Brewmaster Larry Kerwin
What might compel a man on the brink of retirement, a man with over 40 years of brewing experience, a man renowned as one of the most accomplished brewers in an accomplished beer nation – what might entice such a man to shrug it all off and throw in his lot with a fledgling brewery? Every brewer worth their salt knows the answer already: it's the chance to get back to the roots. Brewing small-batch handcrafted beers with premium ingredients is the life every brewmaster dreams of on long winter nights.
For Larry, the chance to mentor a new generation of brewers was the icing on the cake. The lads are learning from the best.
Village Brewery is proud to have assembled a group of Beer Barons: 50 Calgarians of accomplishment chosen for a history of making Calgary a better place to live. Under the Village banner our Barons have pledged to work collectively to do further good for our community. And there's no pledge more binding than one you make over beers.
THINGS WE BELIEVE
Staying Local. Supporting the Arts.
Looking After the Place.

Great products can make a place. Brie has their tasty cheese and Taber their corn.
In Calgary we have the best barley and malt and water in the world, and we've got the best villagers too. Heck, we've even got the best drinkers (because Village beer is only available in Calgary). You see, delicious beer is delicious beer, but the experience of drinking beer is only as great as the place where you drink it. Lucky us!

ARTS & CRAFTS
Arts and culture are the backbone of a society. Maybe you could have art without beer, or vice versa, and maybe you could live in a world in black and white, but eff that. We need colour. More than just crafting lip-smacking beer, the Village Brewery's mission is to support the arts in order to make Calgary a better place to live. To really live.

Dear Calgary, Give us good hard water and two-row malting barley and we promise not to screw it all up. Southern Alberta has already upheld its end of the bargain with mountain water and the world's best malting barley; now we pledge to keep the river clean, recycle our packaging, spare the air as much carbon as we can and do simple things like recycle our spent grains for use as cattle feed.
