Canadian Olympic Luge Athlete.

Brooke Apshkrum (@burkdori): First career international gold medal was a big one. She came back from second place after the first run to win the women’s singles event at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway. That was just six years after she had gotten started in luge. Her first year of sliding happened to coincide with Vancouver 2010 and starting her sports career while the country was “electric with passion and pride” for the Olympic Games made a lasting impact on her as she strived to be part of that.

Apshkrum competed in her first Junior World Cup events during the 2013-14 season and made her first appearance at the Junior World Championships in 2015. She became a regular competitor on the FIL World Cup circuit in 2016-17, the same season she debuted at the FIL World Championships.
